Sterile, optical quality, glass bottom dishes provide exceptional imaging quality for applications using inverted microscopes. Glass Bottom Dishes eliminate with using conventional plastic or glass petri dishes and chambers with thick bottoms that require a longer working distance, lower magnification objective. Moreover, plastic dishes cannot be used for DIC or any polarization microscopes due to their inherent birefriengence.
Glass Bottom Dishes are ideal for applications such as: patch clamp recordings where flourescent-tagged (GFP) receptors can be identified for selective study; and many other fluorescent microscopy applications, which require low background scattering of light and reduce intrinsic "auto" fluorescence that occurs when using standard plastic dishes. Black Dishes are used to black out light for fluorescence microscopy.

The ibidi product family is comprised of a variety of µ–Slides and µ–Dishes, which have all been designed for high–end microscopic analysis of fixed or living cells. The glass bottom versions of the µ–Slides and µ–Dishes are especially designed for TIRF, super resolution and single molecule applications. The µ–Dish 35 mm, high Glass Bottom Grid–500 allows you to perform high resolution microscopy in a 35 mm Petri dish with 12 mm walls. The lid can be closed to reduce evaporation during long term experiments. The Grid–500 is a grid structure for relocating events on a glass coverslip, e.g. for correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM). It provides 400 distinguishable observation squares of 500 µm edge length. The grid is clearly visible by phase contrast microscopy and imprinted into the glass coverslip. EndOhm chambers provide reproducible resistance measurements of endothelial and epithelial monolayers in culture cups. Transfer cups from their culture wells to the EndOhm chamber for measurement rather than using hand-held electrodes. The chamber and the cap each contain a pair of concentric electrodes: a voltage-sensing silver/silver chloride pellet in the center plus an annular current electrode.
